Transcendental Meditation prepares the nervous system for any activity. After all, the nervous system plays the most crucial role in whether we experience pleasant or unpleasant stress, whether we are satisfied or dissatisfied. I believe that if we can influence the nervous system in such a way that it truly calms down and performs at its best in any situation, then it is an ideal solution.

The Secret to Good Sleep

If you struggle to fall asleep, find yourself waking up multiple times during the night due to work-related worries, or simply feel awful upon waking, you are not alone. Statistics indicate that sleep disorders are a significant issue in Western society, affecting nearly 25% of the adult population on a regular basis.

The primary purpose of sleep is to provide rest and rejuvenation; however, when the mind and body accumulate excessive worry and stress, it disrupts the nervous system. While various factors can contribute to sleep disorders, stress and anxiety are often at the core of the problem. Fortunately, there are solutions available for these challenges.

When we are tried, our thinking becomes unclear, our attention drifts easily, and each task takes longer to complete. Often, we find ourselves staying up late because our exhaustion hinders us from finishing our responsibilities on time, creating a detrimental cycle.

Rest enables the body’s natural processes of regeneration and healing to operate effectively. Insufficient rest leads to poor bodily performance and can result in health issues related to stress. Approximately 80% of doctor visits are attributed to stress-related (psychosomatic) conditions.

Neil B. Kavey, a representative of the National Sleep Foundation, states that stress is a major barrier to falling asleep and achieving deep rest, significantly diminishing the quality of our sleep. Stress can lead to hypertrophy, disrupting the balance between rest and alertness.

Through the practice of TM, the profound state of calm experienced helps to naturally dissolve deeply rooted stress and fatigue, promoting bodily rejuvenation and enhancing brain function.

How to Break the Cycle of Sleep Disorders?

Breaking the cycle of sleep disorders requires a significant infusion of deep rest and relaxation for the entire body. Just 15 to 20 minutes of restorative rest can interrupt negative patterns and activate the body’s innate self-healing mechanisms. By consistently practicing this, we can effectively alleviate stress and fatigue. Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated that meditation, particularly Transcendental Meditation (TM), is an effective approach to addressing sleep disorders.

Transcendental Meditation is a straightforward and accessible technique that can be practiced while seated comfortably with closed eyes. To an observer, it may resemble a brief nap. Over 7 million individuals have successfully learned this technique, and extensive research validates its benefits.

The Reduced Time to Fall Asleep

Less Stress = Better Sleep

A groundbreaking study on sleep disorders was conducted at the University of Alberta, Canada, focusing on the effectiveness of Transcendental Meditation (TM). Insomnia patients recorded the time it took them to fall asleep 30 days prior to learning TM, and then again at 30, 60, and 90 days post-training. Remarkably, the average time to fall asleep decreased from 75.6 minutes to just 15 minutes, maintaining this improvement consistently. This indicates a significant reduction in sleep onset time, allowing participants to fall asleep in just 15 minutes instead of over an hour!

General Well-Being

Regular practice of Transcendental Meditation helps us to free ourselves from accumulated stress. Research shows that consistent practice of TM improves health, including mental well-being. It is scientifically proven that 70-90% of diseases are stress-related, so if you have access to a method that reduces stress, it will enhance your overall health and every aspect of your life. If practicing TM for two sessions of 20 minutes each can break this cycle, it is definitely worth sitting down, and in the long run, we will save more time than we invest.

TM has been shown to provide a unique deep rest that rejuvenates both the mind and body. This improves sleep, workplace efficiency, and reduces anxiety, which also drains our energy.

Better Sleep Quality at the Factory Workers

A Japanese National Health Institute study found that 427 employees of the Sumitomo heavy industry company who learned TM fell asleep much more easily after 3 months compared to the 308 members of the company’s control group.
