When the mind transcends, the body spontaneously comes into a very deep state of relaxation as well,
far deeper than sleep. This can be objectively measured by monitoring oxygen

This graph, from a Harvard Medical School research study, shows that during TM,
the body comes into a state of rest that is twice as deep as even the deepest rest during sleep.
More than 30 studies around the world have confirmed the deep rest during TM practice.This deep rest
activates the inner healing power in our own bodies.
Anxiety is often related to deep rooted stresses, stresses that are out of reach
of normal therapies, such as relaxation or pyschotherapy, which can only work on the surface level
of the mind. Transcending brings the mind to its deepest inner source and from there activates the
body’s and mind’s power to heal itself from even our deepest stresses.
Anxiety and fear
spontaneously disappear simply as a side-effect of coming back home, a holistic positive
transformation that effects all areas of life.
Ancient teachings describes transcending as a the experience of
deep inner happiness. Because our mind is searching for happiness any time it has a chance easily
transcends. We just have to create the right circumstances. The transcendental Meditation exactly

Although the subjective experience will differ from one meditation to the next,
objective measurements show that there are consistent objective changes in the brain when the mind
transcends, such as a significant increases of the “happiness hormone” serotonin
Serotonin, on
the other hand, regulates many of our brain functions. A low level of serotonin is now brought into
connection with a series of problems, including depression, anxiety, migraine, anger, Alzheimer’s
disease, sleep disorders, memory problems, compulsive acts, addictions etc. Medicines that regulate
serotonin levels can temporarily ease the symptoms of these illnesses, but can not solve the real
cause of the problem. Stress plays a major role in the reduced serotonin production in the brains.
Our health care system is better described as “sick care”. Patients are looked
after too late. Despite our very advanced methods for health care, people are often left with an
incredible number of chronic problems. Most of the 600 scientific studies around TM confirm the
effects of transcending on health, and really these are just studies confirming our body’s own
healing power. The practice of Transcendental Meditation brings the body in the right state to
activate this power.
This long-term study from the US compared health statistics of more
than 2000 TM practitioners over a period of 5 years to the averages of 600.000 other Americans. The
group of TM practitioners up to the age 40 had 50% less hospitalisations than the average, and the
group of TM practitioners over 40 had 70% less hospitalisations.
